Expeditions

Expedition kayaking is the ultimate way to experience the more remote areas of Scotland. We run everything from 2 day trips to 6 day trips on linear and circular routes all on the West coast as far afield as the Outer Hebrides. All of our expedition trips are fully catered using a delicious menu and when possible we'll forage and fish to add fresh seafood to the menu.

Summer Isles Expedition - Assynt

Price: £690pp

Where: Achiltibuie (Assynt)

When: summer

Highlights: Seals, Porpoise, Basking Shark (occasionally), caves, beaches, short crossings, postoffice, ancient geology

The Summer Isles are a collection of small islands on the Assynt coast. To the west is the Minch and to the east a sky line dominated by giants. Suilven and Stac Pollaidh are a photographers dream. This trip starts with a night at basecamp before we head out for our 4 night expedition. The Summer Isles is the ideal place to exped for the first time. It has a real feeling of remoteness while never being more than a couple of hours from where we started. There's a quaint little post office and cafe on the biggest island, Tanera Mor. We'll make a stop here and get a coffee, send some postcards and revel in the view towards the Assynt giants. This island hopping trip offers a real sense of adventure in a delightfully scenic location.

Loch Bracadale Expedition - Isle of Skye

Price: £460pp

Where: Loch Bracadale (Isle of Skye)

When: summer

Highlights: diverse wildlife, caves, stacks, arches, moderate water & island camping

Caves, arches and stacks. Loch Bracadale is a sea kayaker's playground. Hop from cave to cave in this spectacular location dominated by the high cliffs on either side and the Black Cuillin to the east. This is a similar trip to the Summer Isles, however requires a little experience due to the longer crossings, exposed coast line and in some places, the difficulty of landing. Weather permitting we'll head along the western cliffs to Macleod's Maidens, 3 stunning stacks shaped by the atlantic swells rolling in from the west. We'll make camp on any of the bigger islands, all with an incredible view over Loch Bracadale.

Outer Hebrides Expedition

Price: £810pp

Where: weather dependent

When: summer (August)

Highlights: diverse wildlife, caves, stacks, arches, moderate water & island camping

The Outer Hebrides are like no where else. From miles of golden sand to miles of uninterrupted cliffs, Lewis, Harris, the Uists and Barra have it all. We plan to base camp at a serviced camp site but if the weather is right we'll head out on expedition for a few nights. The remoteness and timeless feel of the "Islands on the Edge" create a superb kayaking experience. We'll fish from our kayaks, scavenge for mussels and barter for fresh fish from the fishing boats. Around every corner there is a new, awesome surprise waiting to blow your socks off.

We leave the locations of this trip till last minute to make the most of the prevailing weather and the state of the tide.
